This
unique and exciting tour takes you to the tropical paradise of Salvador
de Bahia, located in Northeastern Brazil. Here, unlike any other
place in the Americas, African culture is alive and vibrant and
waiting to be discovered! We will taste dishes inspired by African
culture, see African art with traditional motifs that are older
than 500 years, view the African Martial Art of Capoeira, as well
as visit places where African religion, thousands of years old,
can still be seen and inspire those fortunate enough to experience
it...

Day 2 - Airport / Hotel
Traditional greetings at Salvador airport by Afro-Brazilian ladies
in traditional white African dress (called Baianas locally) offering
ribbons of Bomfim. Welcome Cocktail at group Hotel with a historical
overview of African History in Brazil.

Day 3 - Night City tour historical with lunch
Your day starts at the Barra Lighthouse and the Santo Antônio
Fortress, in scenic and beautiful Salvador. We will pass through
Avenida 7 de Setembro, Porto da Barra, Ladeira da Barra, Corredor
da Vitória, Praça do Campo Grande, Praça da
Piedade, and will finally descend into the Praça Municipal
in front of the famous and towering Elevador Lacerda. After going
up in the elevator to the high city above, we will visit the historical
center of Salvador and it's main monuments of Praça da Sé,
Terreiro de Jesus, Catedral Basílica (Cathedral), Church
of São Francisco de Assis, the Afro-Brasileiro museum, and
the African interest Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos
Pretos no Largo do Pelourinho. Enjoy a delicious Lunch. Return to
the hotel.
Overnight in Tropical Salvador
Bahia by night - (Supper + Show)
Tonight, after a welcome drink and a full traditional Bahiano meal,
you will see a wonderful folk show. This spectacle is representative
of the Afro-Bahia culture and boasts a beautiful presentation of
the African originated dances of the orixás of candomblé,
and of maculelê - a dance born in the sugar cane fields in
the interior of Bahia. Next you will delight in the capoeira dance-fight
which originated in Angola many centuries ago. And finally, you
will experience the Samba de Roda, a type of fishing with nets all
to the sensual rhythms of Bahia. Welcome Drinks at the restaurant
and dinner. Return to the hotel.

Day 4 - Full day: Visit of the Town of Cachoeira with lunch
After breakfast, we will visit the main town of African interest
in all of Brazil, Cachoeira. It is here you begin to see the process
of populating the Salvador area as we cross cattle regions, sugar
cane plantations and the charming and scenic town of Santo Amaro
da Purificação. Santo Amaro was the center of the
great Brazilian sugar industry till XIX century. Here, we will visit
a typical fair with a mind-boggling array of colors from a multitude
of exotic fruits and vegetables found only in this part of the world!
Moving ahead, we will finally arrive in the enchanting city of Cachoeira,
rich in large, beautiful colonial style houses that were constructed
along the edge of the historical Paraguaçu River. After visiting
an old cigar factory, we will visit the focal point of Afro-Brazilian
History and Culture at the cultural center of the "sisterhood."
The sisterhood has existed since the XIX century and is famous for
once helping run away slaves, but today for continuing and protecting
the ancient African culture of Bahia. This is a can't miss!! Later,
delight in a delicious supper and return to the hotel in Salvador.

Day 5 - Tropical Islands Cruise with Traditional lunch
After breakfast, we will depart from the hotel for an exciting cruise
that mixes the exotic with typical tropical beauty. Our course will
take us around the Baía de Todos os Santos (Bay of all Saints),
the largest bay of Brazil with 1.053 km² and with 36 islands.
Our first stop will be at the gorgeous island of "Ilha dos
Frades" for a dip in the warm tropical ocean. You will enjoy
seeing the locals arrayed near the waters, each with their little
tents and stands selling freshly caught lobster, shrimp, and fish
etc... Our next stop in paradise will be at Itaparica Island, the
largest island of All Saints Bay. Here we will stop again for a
swim and a traditional lunch. Later, return to Salvador and the
hotel.

Day 6 - Full
day - Praia do Forte with Lunch
After breakfast, we will visit some of Brazil's most beautiful and
scenic beaches on the coast known as Praia do Forte (or Fortress
beach). Heading North out of Salvador, we will experience the beaches
of Ondina, Rio Vermelho, Amaralina, Pituba, and Itapuã with
a stop at Lagoa do Abaeté. Here, we will learn of the ancient
African custom of placing offerings to the Goddess of the sweet
waters. Next, we will arrive in Praia do Forte town, a beautiful
fishing village with South America's most famous Marine Turtle Protection
Project. Here you will get to swim or relax in the curative and
exotic waters along the Guarajuba beach. After lunch, we will return
you to Salvador for some free time to go shopping or discovering
more of this wonderful City.

Day 7 - Panoramic City Tour
Leaving the hotel after a hearty breakfast, we will stop by the
Dique do Tororó (a lake) to appreciate the gorgeous statues
of the African Orixás (Deities of Candomblé). We will
stroll around this scenic location, steeped in meaning and history
and view the Stadium of Fonte Nova as well. Next, after crossing
the Américo Simas Tunnel, we will arrive in the low city
and the charming Peninsula of Itapagipe. This place was an old vacation
place for those who lived in the historical center of the city perched
on the cliffs above. Nowadays however, it is a neighborhood for
fishermen and is where you can still see the fishermen grabbing
shell-fish at low tide from their colorful sailing boats in the
Bay of All Saints. Continuing on, we will next visit the church
of Nosso Senhor do Bomfim, the most popular attraction in all Bahia.
Nearby, you will also visit the Boa Viagem beach in historical Mont
Serrat neighborhood with its imposing XVI Portuguese fortress. Early
Afternoon, we will visit the best and biggest shopping place in
the North of Brazil for hand-crafted items, Mercado Modelo. You
can find a wide assortment of products at ridiculously low prices!
Optional: We can also visit a "Terreiro de Candomblé"
or African Cadomble Church or a Baptist Church, as the group desires
and according to the profile of the group.

Day 8 - Transfer to Salvador Airport for return flight home.
