Lake District
to Ushuaia
Day
1
Reception in Buenos Aires international airport and transfer to
the local airport. Flight to Bariloche. Reception and visit to the
city by the lake Nahuel Huapi. Night in cabins.
Day 2
Bariloche. We start the overland enjoying the views of the different
lakes, mountains and forests of the Patagonian lake district. We
visit Los Alerces National Park and have lunch there. In the afternoon
we cross to chile and prepare the camping by the famous Futaleufu
River. Night in camping.
Day 3
In the morning we'll drive to Yelcho Lake and later head south
to Puyuhuapi. We will sleep in Puyuhuapi in a very pictoresque "family
house", in wich we will be able to take an insight into the way
of life of a typical chilean fishing village. Puyuhuapi is a really
nice village of aprox. 500 people, with wood houses and very warm
inhabitants.
Day 4
Head south, always south. we drive now on the famous, recently
opened, "Carretera Austral" that became an essential communication
way in this remote part of the country. get amazed, along this dirt
highway with the "ventiqueros" (high hanging glaciers ). The Caleufu
river, no doubt is one of the most famous worldwide, deserves several
stops. That is why we'll need to stop so much on the way. Cohiaique
is a very important developing city in the southern Chile. We will
spend the night in a "family house".
Day 5
After visiting Cohiaique, we will cross the border to the argentinian
side and in the afternoon we will arrive to a typical estancia near
the Cueva de las Manos. Night in the estancia in shared rooms.
Day
6
After breakfast we continue southwards till we arrive to Cuevas
de las Manos, a short walk will take us to see the cave paintings
of more than 9000.- year (even older than the Egyptian Piramids).
Note: Campground without services.
Day 7
This is a long
day. We will spend most of it in our vehicle while we transit the
famous Route 40. In the afternoon we arrive to the charming village
of El Chalten. Night in a mountain hostel.
Day 8
This day we will make our way deep into the wilderness. We will
hike up to Laguna de los Tres, just at the foot of the famous Mount
Fitz Roy ( 7 hours trekking ). Accomodation in the hostel.
Day 9
Depending on the group and in the weather, this morning we can either
start a 5 hours trek to Laguna Torre (at the foot of the Cerro Torre)
or a less tiring excursion to Laguna del Desierto and the Huemul
Glaciar. After the excursion, we will head south again with our
vehicle until we arrive to El Calafate. We'll spend the night at
a hostel with private bathrooms or in the Hotel La Loma.
Day 10
In the morning we will have a tremendous view of Perito Moreno Glacier,
walk around the area. Spend the night at Del Glaciar Hostel with
private bathrooms or in the Hotel La Loma.
Day 11
Day at leisure for optional activities (such as sailing through
the glaciars or to do a minitrekking in the Glaciar Perito Moreno).
We spend the night at the Hostel (no lunch nor dinner included).
Day 12
This morning we will set out to cross The Andes again towards Chile.
The drive will bring us all the way back to Torres del Paine National
Park. Note: Campground with services right by the Pehoe River and
with an amazing view of the Paine Horns.
Day 13
The excursion will depend on the weather and on the group ( we can
do either long trekkings, short trekkings or visiting the park with
our vehicle). Note: Campground with services.
Day 14
The excursion will depend on the weather and on the group. Note:
Campground with services.
Day 15
After lunch, drive south to Puerto Natales where we will arrive
around 4:00 PM. We will have the afternoon as leisure time to walk
through this beautifull town, enjoy the sunset in the sea or make
some shopping. The night will be spent in a typical hosteria with
double rooms.
Day 16
We start the crossing of 'Estrecho de Magallanes'. Thereafter, we'll
cross the border into Argentina and head down to Rio Grande. Night
in a hosteria.
Day 17
We will stop for lunch at Fagnano lake and have a walk in the area.
Afternoon we will head south to Ushuaia. Night in a hotel or in
a cabin / shelter in the forest.
Day 18
Free day for optionals like sailing in the Beagle Channel, or visiting
the National Park (no lunch nor dinner included).
Day 19
Day at leisure to do optional activities. We recomend the navigation
on the Beagle Chanel or the visit to the National Park (no lunch
nor dinner included) . Night in a hotel.
Day 20
Today we will flight back to Buenos Aires. Night in Buenos Aires.
Day 21
Full day to visit Buenos Aires.
Day 22
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.

In
this itinerary everything is included except flights, entrances
fees to the parks, personal shops, alcoholics drinks and some
meals.
This is a full board trip, except for the dinners and lunchs
in Calafate, Puerto Natales and Ushuaia.
In this overland, we use always our special private vehicle.
We have a permanent tour leader, a cooker and local guides.
